Avatar @ The Penny Gill

What an amazing afternoon yet again in the Penny Gill in Spennymoor!

This week they had on the amazing Avatar, by far my favourite band that plays a Sunday, the pub is always packed when they are playing and everyone has a brilliant time!

Yet again they entertained us all majorly! With playing the beer keg during psychosocial, slipknot cover, not to mention foam hands worn by the crowd. Really mad afternoon, wouldn't have it any other way, best band and best venue!

They need to come back and play at the Penny soon!

Dixon Did It At The Penny Gill

Unfortunately I could only stay for the first half of the bands set at their gig last night at the Penny Gill in Spennymoor due to work getting me up at 4.30am!

From what I heard in the first half of the gig was pretty great, there were a few technical issues with the microphone, although they suffered this issue they didn't let it effect their performance, they dealt with the problem like real professionals, carrying on as if nothing was wrong and fixing it after their song.

The band have a really great energy and really get you feeling the music, listening and watching them gave off a buzz, found myself dancing away and rocking out on a couple of occasions, and I was sober! Not a common thing to happen!

As well as their stage presence and the professionalism during the microphone issue, they chose a great set list that showed off their abilities, great range of vocals, not to play favourite as there were two vocalists, the female vocalist had some amazing talent, really enjoyed their set!

Would love to go and see them again and I am sure that the Penny Gill would have them back for another gig too, heard such great comments from the locals and for a Wednesday night they got a lot of people in.

Swapping buskers night for the band was a brilliant idea, I know I had a good time!

Below is a video I have stolen from youtube, just a little taster for my readers:

Change is hard...

Life has hit an all time low... Have you ever had that feeling of something missing? You try so hard to fill the void but no matter what you try it is still there...

I have never felt this before until now. I always wish that I was a different person and that I was a better person. No matter what I do I seem to fuck up...

There aren't a lot of people I love and care for, each time that I find myself loving I push them straight in the other direction and this time I have tried so damn hard to keep it there but I have done it yet again, how are you supposed to change and become a better person when everything and everyone that you love leaves you behind.

Change was a big part of this year, I am trying so so hard. I don't feel any further forward though.

Wish it could be so simple to just get up and disappear but, unfortunately, it isn't.

Stuck in this hell until the very end, I used to believe in God and that everyone had a purpose but lately its hard to believe when from the very beginning of life I have been screwed over.

Giving up is a better motto. Become the person I fear of being, might as well...

Twitter Trends

#EdBallsDay
Didn't fully understand what this day was. Google once again came to my aid. Basically today is the fourth anniversary of Ed Balls tweeting his own name... Quite worrying that people are actually celebrating this.

#CharityTuesday
Actually the best Twitter trend I have seen to date! Refuge are my chosen charity to raise awareness for, who is your chosen charity? Raise awareness now!

#BaltimoreRiots
I pray for the Baltimore residents right now. Innocent people are getting injured and even killed due to things not being dealt with in a civilised manner. Riots are not the way to get your point across! Hurting and killing as well as town destruction is the worst sort of way to deal with an issue. Society today makes me sick!

#PhoneBookNames
I'd say I have a normal phonebook, normal first name and last name organisation, unless you are my best friend, then something abusively funny is your phonebook name...

October Ends, To Whom It May Concern

Again these guys have impressed me with their music! I have had a great privelage to attend one of this band's practice sessions, they put a lot of work into making sure that their songs are great. Unfortunately I have not seen the band play since their new lead vocalist joined the band but I do intend to soon!

Recently I was sent information on October End's debut album by the vocalist himself, glad he has done so because I have recently purchased the album after listening to their samples on iTunes.

I am not going to ramble on about how great they are as I know that many people will have their own opinions, mine happens to be a good one, one good enough that I reccommend them to you, have a listen and let me or the band know what you think?

Simply type into iTunes (October Ends - To Whom It May Concern)

Below is the contact information for the band, I am sure they will be happy to hear any feedback you may have!

Life's Update April 2015

Recently I have been doing a lot of thinking, it is about time I stop putting everybody else's happiness before my own, not many have taken a liking to this new way of thinking, it is all going to be worth it in the long run though, I feel the positive effect already.

My new years resolution for 2015 was to 'fix' myself... So far I think I am doing quite well! The year started rocky, a lot of deaths and I lost my way.

I was in a relationship that shouldn't have really happened, at first I thought that it was something that was needed, after a couple of months however, I realised that my feelings for someone else weren't going to fade just because I attempted to move on, no matter how much I try theres nothing I can do.

The first step into getting back on track was to end the relationship and deal with my feelings that I have for this someone else, don't get me wrong, they are amazing, he makes me happy so it was a great step to take.

I have had a lot of comments made by people I used to class as my close friends, at the time it seemed like they were looking out for me but this was not the case, I needed to make my own mind up, my life so my choice. They made him out to be this horrid person who didn't care about me at all, but, they didn't see the person that I get to see and spend time with, he is perfect in my eyes, he makes me happy, so surely thats all that should matter, just because we aren't doing things like everyone else doesn't mean that its wrong. It is out decision.

Anyways, back on track...

During the second month of the year I lost my way, again. There were a lot of deaths in the family and I turned to the aid of alcohol. I was drinking every single day, never a good thing to do! Luckily before it got out of hand I started to help myself. I am now getting back on track, getting back into fitness, being healthy and on a no alcohol diet.

I am at a place right at this moment in time that I am loving, therapy is going great and is helping me deal with a lot of things, I am back in contact with my step mum and dad whom I haven't spoken to in four years! I am working out every day and eating better, things are looking good, not to mention that one special guy that I can turn to whenever I need to, he helps out a lot more than he probably thinks, he is the reason I can keep going.

With all of that being said, life is good... And I hope it stays that way.

Until the next update... bye! :)

Man Arrested after Taunting teenage girls!

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/news/local/southdurham/spennymoor/11852846.Police_appeal_after_Spennymoor_man_is_arrested_on_suspicion_of_making_indecent_comments_to_teenage_girls/

This article makes me sick, those poor girls must have been terrified! Glad that none of them were taken and hurt, have to be really twisted in the head to do something like this!

Hope he gets sent away for this. Even though none of the girls were hurt it is still a sick and horrid thing to do. This is usually how they start, hopefully they send this guy away before something more serious were to happen.

Mental Health Care Funding Boost

'Mental health services in England will receive extra funding in next week's Budget, Liberal Democrat Treasury Secretary Danny Alexander has said' - BBC News

It is about time something was being done about the funding we have for mental health care, I wouldn't say there are more cases of it but I would say that there are more people coming forward that they have mental health issues as it has become easier for them to do so.

Having personal experience with mental health issues I think that the I should have been entitled to more help than I got, you were given tablets and that was about as far as it went, I think with the new funding boost there will be a lot more to offer, perhaps more people will be entitled to NHS counselling etc.

This article has made my day a lot brighter today, I am glad that something is finally being done to help those with mental health problems.

Guy gets away from a six year sentance

Ooo this article makes me so mad!

So basically this guy is allowed to get away with grooming school girls because his IQ is low... Am I the only person in this country that thinks this is total and utter bull!

Screw IQ tests and whatever else, when a person is summoned to court (especially over charges like these) they should be seen as an equal, therefore getting the same sentence as everyone else would...

Makes my blood boil that we live in a place that will let people like this wonder free...

Man suffered Domestic Violence

http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/male-domestic-violence-victim-i-never-imagined-something-like-this-would-happen-to-me/ar-AA9IA18?ocid=mailsignoutmd

The link above is the article I have just read about a man who has suffered from severe domestic violence.

The whole article made me sick to my stomach, how someone can physically hurt another in this way is disgusting! My heart goes out to this guy!

Hope the woman who has done this to him gets locked away for a very, very long time!

It isn't very often that you see cases like this on the news, it is usually only male on female violence you hear about, I think this man is one of the bravest I have ever come across to put his story out there the way he has, hope it makes people aware on how bad it can be for the men who suffer these attacks and hopefully a lot more men will feel confident to come out and tell their story and hopefully have justice done.

In one attack all the poor man wanted to do was visit the grave of his wife who passed away, made me feel so bad!

Hope more men can come out like this, this story could make a huge difference, things need to change!

Follow!!!!

Follow this guys facebook page. Unreal acoutic artist!!!!

Jeremy Clarkson Banned from BBC?!

Well... I just find this ridiculous, basically +Jeremy Clarkson  allegedly 'punched' the producer and now he has been banned from TV which also means no +Top Gear  on Sunday! Stupid!

The producer really has no balls! Doesn't like what has happened so uses their power to ban him off the BBC, its like a 3 year old child being in charge, if there was an argument or whatever in my workplace you would just grin and bear it rather than throwing a tantrum.

I first heard this on Twitter so went on to BBC News to read up on it. You can't get rid of Jeremy Clarkson, whether you like it or not, this guy is Top Gear, he is the guy everyone tunes in to watch, good luck replacing him if you do let him go, can guarantee that you will loose a lot of your viewers!

Katy Hopkins tweeted about this with pretty much the same opinion, bring him back, for once I actually agree with her tweets!

#HeForShe

HeForShe

So... He for She is a new thing that I have gotten into lately, in the past week I have learnt a lot about it. The way I found out about he for she was a video that was on my Newsfeed on Facebook. This featured +Emma Watson  making a speech, I will share some links to her talks and speeches in this post.

What is +HeForShe ?

He for She is the movement for gender equality, this was originally a struggle for women which was lead by women. Over the years though a lot of men have stood up to fight the same battle for gender equality.

As said on He for She's webpage, this is not a women's issue, this is a human rights issue.

On the He for She website men can sign up and fight for gender equality.

If you are a man who is ready to stand for gender equality you can sign up and take action via the link below:

Here is the He for She youtube link where you can find some speeches done by Emma Watson

***Blog Changes***

As you may have already noticed I have had some time away from the blogging world. During this time my interests have grown, I am interested in more than just music. I would like to start writing about everything that interests me rather than being limited to just music.

I hope that this doesn't effect any of my readers in any way as I will still be posting about music but with other things as well.

One interest that has grown is the #HeForShe campaign which some people may no due to Emma Watson. She has been a big inspiration to me lately.

I am open to any comments people have about these changes as well as suggestions about what you would like to hear about on this blog.

Thanks for reading
