Whitemoor Release Christmas Single

I have recently received a message from the band with information about their very festive new single The North Wind which was released on December 13th 2014.

Of course I have had a cheeky little listen myself and I really enjoyed it, such a beautiful song, the lyrics are really well written, the thought that came to my mind when I listened was that Christmas is never the same without the ones you love, having people around you is what Christmas is all about. This song puts across what I have always thought which is, what is the point in celebrating if you can't do it with the person or people you adore.

This song is free to download so what have you got to lose? I will post the links for the song at the bottom of my post.

I am glad that +WhiteMoor  came forward and asked me to write about this because I really enjoyed their Horizons album, they are truly a talented band, lots of my friends now listen because of me and they all enjoy them too.

So enough of my rambling and a bit about the song and the band.

the North Wind is a live acoustic track which is accompanied by a live session video which you can watch online at MUZU.TV, it can also be watched on Http://youtu.be/q92hpSTmWTo

Also to add to this blog post I have a quote directly from the band about the track:

''The North Wind is a very different song for us, it's a stripped back track that features a lot of live elements including strings, piano and acoustic guitar, as we normally record our material in a very different way the live video shoot was quite challenging but at the same time a lot of fun. We borrowed a cello player (Hannah Barrs) from a band we know called the Idolins and she was fantastic.

We decided to release this track because we have spent the majority of 2014 writing and recording our 3rd studio album, this has meant we haven't really been out playing shows so thought it would be nice to give something back to the people who follow us, the track was written by Barrington and his old writing partner Peter A Backler for inclusion on our new album but we felt it was a perfect release for Christmas instead.''

If you visit www.whitemoor.co.uk you can find a download link on there, if not it is available on YouTube as written above. Thanks for reading and I hope you take my advice and check this band out, they are in my top favourites.

King Charles!

Not sure why it has taken me so long to write about King Charles, have a serious fan girl situation going on with him, you'll understand why once you give him a listen.

I first heard of King Charles in June 2014, this is through an old friend of mine, she asked me to his Newcastle gig at the Think Tank? I am so glad I went, listened to his Loveblood album all the way from Spennymoor to Newcastle on the bus, glad I did because I could have a sing a long when I got there.

I will stop rambling on about how great he is now and give you the basics and the links for his social networks so you can see for yourself!

You can find King Charles' albums Loveblood, Bam Bam EP, Loveblood EP and Lady Percy Single on iTunes for pretty great prices, You can also listen to his songs Mississippi Isabel, The Brightest Lights, Love Lust, Lady Percy and Loveblood on Spotify by simply searching his name.

Street Party In Soho

I have been to see this band twice now and both times I have thoroughly enjoyed myself. The frost was at a music competition in Newcastle and the second was when they supported King Charles in June at the ThinkTank in Newcastle, had such a great night that night, was dancing like a mad woman to the band as well a King Charles himself. This band are so up beat and catchy, love them. I'd happily go and see them again.

You can listen to the bands song Take Your Time in full on their sound cloud page.

The band will be playing alongside Lisbon at Whitley Bay on December 18th 2014, the doors will be open at 8pm and you can buy tickets on See Tickets website for £5.

As well as that the band will be playing a headline gig at Newcastle, The Cluny2 on Devember 14th 2914 at 7pm again tickets can be purchased via See Tickets for £5.

DERACINATE EP

Firespeak
This is the first song of the EP which means for me this is the most important song. In order for me to fully listen to an album or EP is to be dragged in by the first song, if the first song is not good then I am always hesitant to listen to more. This wasn't the case for this band, I was drawn in instantly by the amazing vocals and the brilliant timing and work of the rest of the band. Brilliant opening song if you ask me.

V.I.T.R.I.O.L
Loving the guitar opening to this song, a much slower song than the first of the EP but that doesn't mean it wasn't great, because it was, this song set in my mind that the band are capable of any style of song, perhaps even any style of music.

A Fall From Up So High
This is an interlude song. A pretty great one at that, a nice slow, let's say 'chilled' song, has some amazing guitar solo parts, vocals are also very amazing as usual with this band.

Icebergs Pt. II
The band jump straight into this song. Not going to lie, it isn't my favorite song on the EP, it's still pretty awesome but it just took me a little longer than usual to connect with the song and get into it.

Coming To Bed
Okay so I needed to download this song as soon as I heard it, took me less than a second to say I loved it, just wow is all that comes to mind, found myself bopping away to this song put me in a brilliant mood. I can weirdly relate to this song.

HELL
Adore the gradual build up and then the sudden burst of music, musical explosion! Love the bass guitar and the drums in this song, very deep sound.

Fall Out Boy release Only The Bulls

His track features Ira Antelis, Cheryl Berman and Steve Schanwald, the song will be played during the Chicago Bulls home game season.

I have given this song a listen and let's just say it totally suits what it was made for, it is a song that you would expect to hear at am American basketball game, for me lately I feel like I don't really recogmise Fall Out Boy... I feel like they are becoming more of a mainstream pop-rock band, they seem to be missing their rustic rock sound that they used to have.

I find this song rather disappointing as a long term fan but it suits what it is intended for, just wish they would go back a bit and be more rock than pop.

Corey Taylor Talks Slipknot Mask, Paul Grey and More With Larry King

Corey Taylor had an in depth interview with Larry King.

Corey spoke about Gene Simmons 'Rock is finally dead' claim. He said:

''I want it to show that our genre is still very much alive. Obviously, Gene Simmons is very famously quoted as saying, 'Rock n Roll is dead' I think he's got a point, but at the same time you have to use the new technology to your advantage, and I think we are going to show people that you can still use the technology and still have something in rock and roll.''

I totally agree with Corey, I wrote about this Gene Simmons claim not too long ago and agreed rock is far from dead.

Former Static X Bassist Reacts To Wayne Static's Death

Tony has posted a statement online following Wayne Static's death.

On November 1st it was announced that founding Static X member has passed away at the age of 48!

Tony says:
''I'm having a hard time finding the words to express how I feel right now, and it's taken me a long time to even try to write something. I knew Wayne for 15 years. Some of the best times of my life were with him. I considered hum a good friend. It's sad, the way our friendship ended, but even more sad that we never got to settle things between us.

Even though we were no longer friends the last five years, I held on to the sliver of hope that my old friend would come back. We were like family; Kiochi Fukuda,  Nick Oshiro,  Erik Fincher,  Bruce Reiter,  Brandon Jensen; we all just wanted our old friend back. Sadly, that will never happen.

I feel horrible for his parents and hid brothers and sisters. I can't even begin to imagine what they must be going through. My deepest condolences go out to them. All we can do now, is remember the good times we shared. Rest in peace Wayne.''

Following Wayne's death Drowning Pool posted:
''We are totally in shock and devastated by the loss of our good friend Wayne of Static X. Can't believe we lost another great rock Hero. Our hearts go out to Wayne's family and friends. We were so looking forward to touring together in the UK in January. Can't believe you're gone brother. Never easy loosing a friend. Sleep well...''

Taking Back Sunday have been a huge influence on us as musicians and Louder Now will always be one of my favourite albums. It’s the perfect end to what has been an incredible year for our band. We also get to hang with our besties Marmozets which is going to be dangerous to say the least. Plus we’ve been writing some new material since our last headline tour so there could be a few surprises in the set!”

Alestorm Leeds!

What an amazing gig this was! So glad I was asked to go otherwise I would have missed an awesome night!

Alestorm hit Leeds University on October 25th with their Piratefest with support from Lagerstein, Red Rum and Raibow Dragon Eyes!

Each band had the crowd going mad. we had beer chugging, mosh pits and a lot of bad ass pirates, couldn't have asked for a better gig.

This was a new experience for me, I have never seen any of these bands before Friday night and I can tell you now I have massively been missing out! To me pirate rock is really similar to Irish rock, probably why I loved it so much, took me back home a little.

If you haven't seen any of these bands before I highly recommend that you do, I mean if they can make a newbie who haven't heard of any of them before love them I am sure they can win anyone over! Think I will have to get myself to another one of their gigs!

Sad News!

So... A little bit of bad news for this week. I found this out a while ago now but I have had to keep my mouth shut about it until the official announcement... The decision has been made by Black Nevada to kick Cameron Dunn out of the band. It is a massive kick in the teeth for the fans of the band.

Cameron is a close friend of mine so for this to happen is a total shock! Never in the world did I expect him to be the one to go. It really is sad as the band are like a little family.

There will be auditions for a new drummer at the Merry Monk this Sunday, in my eyes they wont find anyone even close to replacing Cameron, anyways, if you would like to audition then I will post the details below!

Sunday 2nd November 2014
The Merry Monk
The band have asked that you send them a message on Facebook to give you an allotted time to turn up. Good Luck to anyone trying out, just make sure you don't have a job, it could back fire into getting you kicked out...

Blink 182 Aim For Summer 2015 Album Release

So Blink 182 are going to start work on their seventh studio album, in the next couple of weeks they plan to start writing for the new album.

Tom DeLonge Says:
“I am hoping that we can get this thing out by summer, but we will see,” before adding, “We actually have our very first big writing session coming here in the next few weeks where we’ll get together and lay down our first tracks,”

Back in August Mark Hoppus said:
We are basically at the very beginning of the process. We were going to start recording at the beginning of this year, but there were some things happening in some of our personal lives that prevented us from getting in the studio, so now we are getting in the studio at the end of this year instead. We have the beginning of song ideas at this point, and we are really just excited to get into the studio and have an album out sooner rather than later.”

I really cannot wait for this album, really curious to see what the band have in store for us!

Corey Taylor Talks Depression & Suicide

Corey Taylor teamed up with You Rock Foundation making a video about suicide and depression.

Corey spoke about his own battles with depression as well as his attempted suicide, he added how he overcame his struggle with depression by using the power of music.

Corey Says:
“Nothing on this planet is worth going away for. Nothing on this planet is worth ending your life for, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. There’s always a way out. It’s all temporary. Pain is temporary. Depression is temporary. You are stronger than you know. You can get through it.”

Below is the video he made speaking about depression and suicide:

Personally I have been through the struggle of depression, it is a hard thing to get out of, all you can think is how bad things currently are and you don't really think about how things may get better in the future, for me I channeled all of my emotion into dance, dance is what helped me just like music is what helped Corey Taylor.

I had a friend Deano Black who did commit suicide and still to this day I feel guilty about it because I feel like I could have done a lot more to help him, I always offer a helping hand to anyone who needs it.

Black Nevada, Merry Monk Gig Review

Following on from yesterday's post of the gigs details I bring the news!

As usual the band were amazing, minus a few hiccups such as strings snapping etc. Even with the issues they still provided an amazing performance. It will take a lot more to stop this lot!

For those of you who missed the gig, the band are playing again tomorrow for Durhams Oxjam, all the details can be found on Facebook! If not I will post them tomorrow (if I remember that is).

Hopefully you guys go to this, it's a band you shouldn't miss out on!

Ozzy Osbourne On Justin Bieber

Well it has happened, Ozzy has finally been asked about Justin Bieber and lets say, as expected, we got a pretty awesome come back from him. Personally I do not like Justin Bieber for a lot of reasons... He is immature and un-talented! So... This is what Ozzy had to say:

''Award ceremonies are insane and confusing, you've got idiot journalists asking for advice on people like Justin Bieber! I was like you're asking me, for advice on Justin fucking Bieber! He threw an egg at a neighbours house and got nicked and you're asking Ozzy Osbourne, who bit the head off a bat?! Here's some advice: slap his arse and tell him to go to bed.''

Now I totally agree with Ozzy here, who in the right mind would ask the Prince of Darkness about Justin Bieber of all people, I think the answer they got was to be expected.. Think whoever this journalist is needs to do background checks before asking such silly questions...
